Coming … A Freeze on Cash!

It comes convenience studded. You feel unencumbered and most unlikely to fall victim to muggings or other attack on your person for your cash. It’s all loaded on your smart card, or better yet on your biochip (computer microchip implant) securely stuck under your skin. With your smart card or biochip, you can transact business anywhere without money ever changing hands. 

Cashless transactions are the wave of the future. Many of the systems are said to discourage crime and may make us feel safer.

But could they lead to something more sinister? Will there arise a power that will one day require all to receive a mark before we could buy or sell and even access services like medical care?

Bible prophecy says so, and the cashless trend puts it on a fast track to fulfillment. (Read Rev. 13:16-18).

Already, experimentation with the coming cashless economy has begun with its “advantages” being dangled before the public.

It began with the credit card system which has since been overtaken by new payment technologies like biometric payment systems which work by facial or retina recognition, voiceprints and fingerprint scanning. 

But the ultimate destination is the universal use of biochips—microchips implanted under the skin—containing among other data one’s bank account enabling one to sell or buy electronically.

The biochip system draws on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which uses tiny computer chips—the size of a grain of uncooked rice—to transmit information at a distance. It functions pretty much like a credit or ATM card: It must be scanned to retrieve information or authorize payment.

Of late, preference for microchip implants over smart cards has been bolstered by the comparative cost advantages of the former. Removed from their plastic card encasements, the microchips themselves cost little. In addition, they can be read by an inexpensive scanner (unlike a credit or ATM card which would require an expensive identification terminal), making their extensive use all the more cost effective.

With the average consumer, more appeal lies with the convenience of shopping or transacting business without having to carry bulky cash or a credit or debit card which could get lost.    

The cashless society concept is steadily gaining currency. Indeed, media reports indicate that the concept is being piloted in a number of trendy clubs around the globe. These exclusive clubs have begun to surgically implant their VIP customers with microchips which they can use to pay for drinks and food.

So technically, implementation is not an issue; only cultural barriers (mainly of religious and civil liberties background) remain to be pulled down.

Viewed in relation to the parallel progress on world unity, it’s just a matter of time before the ‘death of cash’ will be announced, and all the peoples of the world will be required to receive a ‘mark’.

And a mark that will no doubt contain a microchip which not only allows buying and selling but also keeps track of the user—as the ‘property’ of the antichrist (the subject of a later article).

But the grave danger is not in the loss of civil liberties or personal freedom, but in ignoring God’s warning against receiving the mark of the beast. Such an individual makes himself an enemy of the Creator, as an ally of the antichrist and his satanic system. The punishment fits the crime—God’s wrath poured out without mixture: 

“And the third angel followed them saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

“The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

“And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name” (Rev. 14:9-11). 

For true believers, these are signs that our redemption draws near, and that it’s time we got spiritually prepared so that we may be “accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of man” (Luke 21:34-36).
