Believers, the Fortified House of God

By: Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr.

Oftentimes, as we are beset with the storms of life and satanic threats, we lose sight of the incredible power we have with God as believers; yes, we lose sight of the unique position in which God has placed us.

We forget that we are the Temple/House of God—and that speaks volumes about what we have become! Our blood-washed, purified human bodies are now the House of the very Creator of the universe and His Son Yeshua (1 John 1:7; Acts 20:28; 1 Cor. 6:19).

Being the House of these Potentates (Powerful Personalities) should make us singularly strong—impregnable even. The House of the greatest Power(s) in the universe cannot be easily attacked and destroyed; the enemy would have to bind the STRONG MAN OF THE HOUSE (God) first, and then he would spoil His goods (us).

Matt. 12:29 states: “How else can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his goods.”

Can you imagine Satan binding God and Jesus, however far you stretch your imagination? Well, as far as binding is concerned, Satan is always the victim—the bound, never God! And we have authority from the STRONG MAN of the House to bind the enemy without—Satan who goes about seeking whom he may devour (Matt. 18:18; 1 Pet. 5:8). Although he is due to suffer one final binding at Christ’s return (Rev. 20:1-3), he will suffer numerous bindings until then!

The warning sign on the wall/doorpost of the House of God (‘of which we are’, Heb. 2:6) is this glowing red sign: WARNING! Beware of the Blood of Jesus! The BLOOD on the House is the signal of danger and sign of no-entry to Satan and his demons! (See Rev. 12:11).

In Egypt, just before the Exodus, it was the blood of the lambs on the doorposts that kept off the angel of death from entering the camp of Israel with death—the death of the first-borns of Israel (Ex. 12:12-13, 21-23). And we are God’s first-born children as members of “the church of the first-born” (Heb. 12:23).

What is more, the house of every VIP or potentate is guarded and fortified. So are we as the House of God guarded by well armed and vigilant guards, being the holy angels (Ps. 91:11; Heb. 1:14). And the fortification? A “wall of [God’s Holy Spirit] fire” about us (Zech. 2:5).

Can the defences of such a House be breached?

Our life is hidden with Christ in God (Col. 3:3). Unless Christ is defeated and God and the angelic guards too (which will never happen – Job 9:4) is our life in danger! It’s a double-layered defence: We are in Christ, and Christ is in the Father as well as in us as the Holy Spirit (John 14:20). Surely, we can only be beyond destruction (Mal. 3:6).

However, we must make ourselves befitting for the abode of the Holy Father and His Son. We must keep His words to be clean enough for the LORD to take up residence (John 14:23: 15:3: 1 Pet. 1:22).

As the house of every great person is kept clean, so must we too purge ourselves so that we might be “a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet for the Master’s use (2 Tim 2:20-21; 1 Cor. 3:16-17). By so doing, He will make us His eternal dwelling-place (Rev. 3:20; Isai. 57:15). And He will accompany us to give us maximum protection wherever we go, even in “the valley of the shadow of death” (Ps 23:4).
